Here Comes The Prom:
- Lorelai, Lane and Rory go shopping for Prom dresses.
- Paris gets asked to the Chilton Prom by a cute stranger named Will. When she goes to Rory for
advice she finds out that Rory and Jess split up. When she gets Rory to admit why, she calls her a
coward.
- Lorelai tells Emily that Rory and Jess broke up and that she's afraid Rory is hurting more than
she's letting on.
- Jess and Dave go to get fitted for tuxes and Jess tells Dave he's thinking of leaving town and
going to California.
All To Real For Fake Smiles to Hide:
- Lorelai helps Rory and Lane get read for Prom. Lane lets slip that Jess told Dave he might be
leaving.
- Emily shows up at the diner (where Lane and Rory are meeting Dave and Jess) with a professional
photographer and a limo.
- Paris worries that Will isn't having a good time at their prom because she's too nervous to talk or
dance. She excuses herself to get advice from Madeline and Louise, but they just tell her to have
fun. She says she can and walks out.
- Rory and Dean talk at Prom and he tells her that he's happy with his new girlfriend, Lindsay. Rory
says she's happy for him.
- Lane bugs Jess into dancing with Rory. But while they're dancing, he starts reciting a poem from
HOWL and Rory gets upset and runs out.
- Jess follows her but she yells at him for ruining the evening by being honest. She asks him is it's
true that he's leaving and he says yes. She wishes him good luck and says goodbye.
- Will finds Paris outside and asks her why she's so sure he won't like her. She says no one likes
her, and he says he does.
- Jess goes back to the apartment and Rory follows him. She kisses him and tells him not to say
anything, and then leaves.
- When Rory gets home she tells Lorelai everything is fine, but after a while she breaks down and
Lorelai comforts her.
One Breaks Glass and the Other One Cries:
- Rory decides it's time to wallow over her breakup with Jess, and goes through her Jess box.
- Lorelai and Lane arrange a wallow party for her, and they all sit around in pajamas, eat
junk food
and watch a movie.
- Rory breaks down and tells them that she dumped Jess because she was sure that when she went to
college they'd grow apart and end up resenting each other, and she wanted to end it while they could
still be friends.
- Lorelai and Lane try and talk Rory into telling Jess the truth, but she refuses. Lorelai and Lane
then plot to get them back together.
- Jess is angry and taking it out on the dishes in the diner. Luke offers to be there if Jess needs
to talk but Jess refuses the offer.
Mother Knows Best:
- Rory tries to apologize to Jess for what happened after the prom but he ignores her and eventually
yells at her. She leaves the diner and he goes up to the apartment.
- Rory tells Lorelai it doesn't matter. That it makes them even and it's over now.
- Lorelai goes to talk to Jess and tells him that if the only reason he's leaving is because he
thinks he has nothing in Stars Hollow then he's wrong and he's leaving for the wrong reasons.
No Regrets, They Don't Work:
- Sookie shows Lorelai her sonogram picture.
- Paris tells Madeline, Louise and Rory about her prom night and that she and Will kissed.
- Luke and Rory 'run into each other' at the house and he drops a ring box. He reveals that he's
planning to propose to Lorelai, he's just waiting for the right moment.
- Rory and Jess run into each other at a bookstore. She apologizes for kissing him and he apologizes
for yelling at her. She says she doesn't regret kissing him, but she's sorry it confused and hurt
them both.
- Chris asks Rory is he would be welcome at her graduation and Rory asks Lorelai.
- Luke is about to propose when Lorelai tells him that Chris is coming back. Luke chickens out of
asking her to marry him.
The Out of Towners:
- Lorelai and Rory practice French and German in preparation for their trip to Europe.
- Luke cooks a special meal for Lorelai so he can propose, but it's interrupted by Chris's earlier
than expected arrival.
- Rory spends the evening at the diner reading and having dinner. She and Jess spend time together
and resume flirting.
- Shane shows up for Jess's graduation.
Not Quite The Way It Should Be:
- Rory is surprised to find that Shane is back in town and Lorelai is concerned that Rory is hurt and
isn't saying anything.
- Chris, Lorelia and Rory spend time together and, despite Rory's protests, Luke insists on staying
away and giving them time to be a family.
- Rory tells Lorelai that Luke has been trying to propose but keeps getting interrupted.
- Lorelai starts dropping hints, hoping Luke will propose.
- Rory sees Jess and Shane together in the diner and is hurt, Jess asks her is she's hurt because she
wants to get back together but she denies it and tells him it's her problems and she'll get over it.
Not So Scary Anymore:
- Paris and Will continue to see each other.
- Chris, Lorelai and Rory continue to spend time together and Luke feels left out.
- Shane and Jess talk about how strangely things have turned out.
- Liz shows up for Jess's graduation.
- Lorelai tries to make sure Luke doesn't feel 'exiled' by Chris.
Graduation Day Pt. 1:
- Liz sees Shane in the apartment and freaks out, thinking Jess is the one who got her pregnant. Jess
explains, but Liz still has concerns about Jess moving to California and he can't seem to convince
her it'll be ok.
- Jess and Lane graduate and their friends and family are there to applaud and take pictures, which
both mortifies and amuses Jess.
- Lane and Jess rigged the graduation music to play Queen instead of the traditional march.
- Liz and Jess talk some more about his move to California and she eventually gives in and stops
fighting it.
Chefs, Cravings and Crazy Talk:
- Lorelai stresses about the progress Tom and his crew are making (or not making) on The Dragonfly.
- Sookie's pregnancy plays havoc with her ability to judge how things taste.
- Liz leaves.
- Lorelai and Rory try packing and wearing their Europe backpacks.
- Lorelai continues to try and drop hints to encourage Luke to propose but he doesn't catch on.
- Jess is grossed out by Shane's cravings.
